Song - Phull Gende Da
Singer - Amrinder Gill and Sanam Maarvi
Music and Lyrics - Beat Minister
From the movie 'Chal Mera Putt 3'
Sanam Maarvi:
Mere jigar deya sardaara, Phull gende da baaghin ugauna
Oh the turbaned beloved of my soul, plant a flower of marigold in the garden
At the top front of the layer of your turban, wear the flower as a decoration like you would wear a kalgi (a kalgi looks similar to a brooch and is worn on the front of the turban with a single feather or a cluster of feathers that form a plume, it's worn as an ornament that symbolizes royalty)
I will kiss your kalgi, my peacock, I will have you sit at the bed of my heart
We will light candles of tears, because you will be coming over to our gates
Oh the gardener of my soul, plant a flower of marigold in the garden
Menu rani banaavin sardaara, Meri amri nu chhad ke main auna
Treat me like a queen my turbaned beloved, I am coming to you leaving my mother behind
Amrinder Gill:
Mere jigar deyie raaniye ni, Sohna chandan da charkha banauna
Oh the queen of my soul, make a beautiful cloth wheel of sandalwood
Leke pariyan de deson jamnu main, Tera jamani dupatta rangvauna
I'll bring purple color from the country of fairies, and I'll color your scarf purple
Have my turban colored by the sun, on which you will have a marigold flower as an ornament
Leke raatan ton shah kaale rang main, Tera naina ch kajla ni pauna
I will take dark black color from the night, and will use it as mascara for your eyes
Mere jigar deyie raaniye ni, Sohna chandan da charkha banauna
Oh the queen of my soul, make a beautiful cloth wheel of sandalwood
Maharani banau raaniye ni, Teri amri nu chhad ke tu auna
I will make you the greatest queen my queen, because you'll be leaving your mother
Sanam Maarvi:
Mere jigar deya sardaara, Aapan chidiyaan nu vehre bulauna
Oh the turbaned beloved of my soul, we will call birds to our front porch
Where the sweet shades of nimm tree (Indian Lilac) are, we will feed them from our own palms
Naale dassange gallan jo andasiyaan, Aina mudke na mud phera pauna
We will also tell them the words we've never shared before, they won't ever make another trip to us
Daughters and birds have their destinies pre-written, where they're born and where they'll go (once married off)
Oh the gardener of my soul, plant a flower of marigold in the garden
Menu rani banaavin sardaara, Meri amri nu chhad ke main auna
Treat me like a queen my turbaned beloved, I am coming to you leaving my mother behind
